Along the east coast of Sweden, north of the capital Stockholm is the city of Söderhamn. If you hire a car from Söderhamn Railway Station, you will be able to visit the surrounding area with ease, including the town's most famous attraction- the Oskarsborg. This 23m-high tower was built to commemorate the visit of King Oscar II of Sweden, and is beautifully presented and composed of 35,000 bricks.
In the nearby village of Asta, you can visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site at Erik-Anders. This decorated 19th century farmhouse is part of a collection that is protected by UNESCO in the region of Hälsingland.
Rent a car from Söderhamn Railway Station and drive to Alir's Eye which is the largest landscape sculpture in the country. As well as being art and a vantage point for the surrounding area, Alir's Eye attracts many during the winter months as it is a great place to go sledging.
Spend a day at the Söderhamn Air Museum and admire the immaculately kept planes - many of which were built in Sweden. You can also discover what life was like on the base, as this was previously the home of the F15 squadron.
