Memmingen is situated in southern Germany, in the far west of Bavaria. The town has a thriving tourist industry due to the opening of the Allgau Airport - Memmingen is often called the ‘Gateway to the Allgau'. Lake Constance and Neuschwanstein Castle frame an area of the Bavarian Alps which is easily accessible to those who hire a car. Ulm is also a viable destination.
In Memmingen itself, you can delight in the quaint Bavarian architecture of Marktplatz and the Town Hall. The Historic St Martins Church is the town's most famous landmark.
Head straight to Marktplatz and enjoy the quaint Bavarian architecture of the town's main square. While you're there, have a coffee at one of the pavement cafes overlooked by the ornate Town Hall. Next make the short walk to St Martin's Church. Relax in Zollergarten – a lovely park just north of the square, or head for Neue Welt Park on the outskirts of town.
If you're hiring a car you really are spoilt for choice. Ottobeuren Abbey is a short drive south east on the St2013, Lake Constance is just over an hour away on the A96/B31 and you can be in Ulm in less than 40 minutes via the A7.
