At the time of rental, the driver must present a valid national driver's license which has been held for at least 1 year.
Rentals for 6 months or longer require a special permit which is issued in Slovakia.
An International Driving Permit (IDP) is required for non-European Union renters.
The IDP translates the national licence into various languages and is on its own, without the national licence, not acceptable.
Driver's licences issued in Japan / Korea may be accepted provided you present an official Hertz Certification form.
Hertz Japan / Korea will issue this form on Hertz notepaper and will incorporate the Hertz Japan / Korea Corporate seal. A scanned copy of the original licence will appear on the Certification form. The Certification form is valid until the expiry date of the Driver's Licence.
Both the Certification and the original licence (with an International Driving Permit strongly recommended by Police authorities in Europe) MUST be produced at the time of rental.
If you hold a Driver's Licence issued in the People's Republic of China, you must present the original licence together with a translation into English issued by a local authority in China as well an International Driving Permit.
These three documents are compulsory for all customers from China for driving in Slovakia and must be provided to the police if required.
If you hold a Driver's Licence issued in Vietnam, you need to present the original licence together with an authorised translation issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport. If both documents are presented at time of rental these licences are acceptable worldwide.

A one way rental is a rental which starts at one location and terminates at another. Availability is subject to location restrictions and vehicle type. A fee may apply for this service and will be advised at time of reservation.

Hertz rates do not include fuel.
All Hertz vehicles are rented with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank or a local refuelling charge will apply in addition to the cost of the fuel.
If you refill the fuel tank, please do it within 15 km of where you return it, and keep your receipt as you will need to show it to our team.
Fuel Purchase Option (FPO).
For your convenience, you may purchase a tank of fuel from Hertz at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations. This method eliminates the need for you to refill the tank before returning. Please be aware that we are unable to give a refund for unused fuel.

Credit cards are accepted at certain petrol stations only. Where credit cards are not accepted, the fuel has to be paid in local currency. Fuel is available without coupons and unleaded fuel is only available in a limited number of petrol stations.
