Hertz at Hudiksvall

The pretty gothic building that houses Hudiksvall train station stands on Stationsgatan, on the harbor side just two blocks from the city centre. The city bus station is right opposite and the station road crosses the city canal just beyond it. Visitors who pick up a hire car at the station here soon find that there's a simple road system. Most of Hudiksvall follows a grid pattern wedged between the various waterfronts and the main coastal trunk road, the E4, just a mile inland. This road connects drivers to destinations to the north and south, while the R84 road leads inland to the west.

Hudiksvall stands a few hundred miles north of Stockholm, and halfway along Sweden's eastern coast. During summer, you'll find strawberry growers selling fruit at makeshift stalls along the roads. In the city itself you'll find waterfront wooden fisherman's houses, showcasing Hudiksvall's history of fish and fur trading.

If you drive around the city, you'll find historic buildings like the Stadshotellet – dating back from the 19th-century, the external building looks more like a Swedish town hall rather than a hotel. Another architectural must-see is Jakobs Kyrka – a 17th-century decorative church which sits in one of the cosiest parts of the city.
