Berlin is an old city, and its history shows in the statues, buildings and monuments throughout. Visitors can take up car hire from Berlin to travel through the various quarters; in the west there is a bomb-damaged church from the Second World War. To the east is the Brandenburg Gate, one of the grandest sights in the city and one of Germany's most famous landmarks. Visitors can also see the Berliner Dom by hiring a car from Berlin – the cathedral was only completed in 1905 despite being started in the baroque era, and is one of the most famous protestant places of worship in Europe.
Berlin is a beautiful destination clustered with monuments – however the hustle and bustle of the city can get too much for even the keenest sightseer. The Grunewald Forest begins in West Berlin; hire a car from Berlin and you'll soon be deep in the forest where there are wild boar, deer, and plenty of fresh air. If you rent a car from Berlin, then the city of Dresden is only 190km away. Dresden is another old city with a buzzing cultural scene; it's found on the River Elbe, and there are great views of the city from the river if you take a boat tour at night.
