Gravesend lies on the South bank of the River Thames in North West Kent. The town has one of the longest running markets in the country and the 80 year-old Gravesend Town Pier is the world's oldest surviving cast iron pier. Other popular spots include: the impressive clock tower, based on the same design as Big Ben and Windmill Hill, which is close to the town centre and provides extensive views over the River Thames. Car hire in Gravesend allows you to explore the Shorne Woods Country Park, which is just a 10-minute drive away and has some great walks.
