Termini Station is Rome's main railway hub and one of Europe's busiest stations. Trains travel all over the continent from here but Termini is also a centre for local transport too: suburban trains, metro and buses all link here. The building itself is a memorable monumental structure with a cavernous interior, underground shopping centre including a supermarket and restaurants on balconies overlooking the platforms. Visitors who collect a hire car at Rome Termini Station are well placed to explore the eternal city. It's centrally located near the National Museum of Rome and Castro Pretorio Church and close to major arterial roads and the Piazza della Republica road junction.
Termini Station stands near the centre of Rome, making it an ideal location for driving to the sights nearby. For example, it's very close to the pretty Villa Borghese landscaped gardens, the popular landmark of the aqueduct-fed Trevi Fountain and the Piazza di Spagna's famous Spanish Steps. If you pick up a hire car at the Termini Station though, you can drive to all the world famous attractions of the Italian capital, including the impressive remains of the Colosseum gladiators' arena, the Vatican and St Peter's papal basilica.

These guys were great, EXCEPT the location on Google maps is for their walk up rental office INSIDE the Termini at 16 Via Giovanni Giolitti, and NOT listed anywhere on Google OR their website is the ACTUAL return/pickup spot at 53 Via Marsala Termini Parking Level 1 - (which is not the ground floor, but one floor up)!! Once we got past the confusion, they were very helpful, even giving us a break with the rental return time. I appreciated that they didn’t make us pay for an extra day, since, after all, we were a few minutes late because of the insufficient information about where they were, and how to get past the gate to them! Their rates were good, and our little Fiat 500 was speedy and strong on the Italian roads!

Petrol / Diesel vehicles:
If you do not take our Fuel Purchase Option (FPO) – see Fuel Policy for details - and do not return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel, we will fill the tank for you and charge you for the costs we incur and the service we provide in doing so.
Our costs include purchasing, storing and managing our own fuel supplies, or refilling the tank off site, plus manpower and administration costs. Our service, of course, saves you from taking the time to find a local fuel station and refilling the vehicle yourself.
The refuelling charge for your rental will be calculated as follows:
1.1 x weekly pump price taken from the EU Commission Energy website plus €36.60 (including tax) service charge.
We will show the actual cost of refuelling on your rental agreement when you pick up your vehicle.
Electric vehicles:
Hertz will record the vehicle battery charge at the start of the rental. Failure to return the vehicle in the same state of charge as at pick-up will result in a recharging fee per missing kWh.
