Hertz at Leeds

Leeds is a town riding the crest of a wave. Its native industries have been boosted as it has become a northern powerhouse and a popular place for businesses to relocate. That has gone hand in hand with a boom in restaurants, cafes and places to shop such as the glitzy new Victoria Gate complex. However, Leeds’ old school charm is still in full effect, with its famed shopping arcades and wonderful market.

With so much commerce going on, van hire in Leeds can really help you handle your business in this thrusting city. You could be moving your children into the halls at either of the major universities here, transporting furniture or building materials - whatever it is, our vans are great for moving bulky or large items. You’ll find van hire branches at handy locations too, including at Ikea, B&Q and Costco, where you have the option to hire by the hour.

Driving in and around Leeds

As one of the north’s key cities, both culturally and industrially, Leeds boasts an extensive road network, ample parking facilities and great connections. You should be aware that much of the city centre is on a one-way system, that there are numerous dedicated cycle lanes in operation and that one of the main shopping thoroughfares, Briggate, is now pedestrianised.

Access is easy to the city centre with a ring road with various on and off ramps. From here you’re also within easy reach of Leeds’ suburbs, such as the student favourite of Headingley, reached along the Otley Road. There’s ample parking in the city centre, with numerous pay-and-display car parks.

The city of Bradford lies directly west of Leeds, along the A647, while the major motorway heading south is the M1, passing Barnsley, Rotherham, Sheffield and on into the midlands and beyond. The M62 runs along the south of Leeds city centre and goes west and east. The former for Manchester, Warrington and Liverpool, the latter for Pontefract, Goole and, eventually, Hull on the Humber.

The A1 (M) skirts Leeds’ eastern side, linking Doncaster with Wetherby and north-east cities such as Newcastle-upon-Tyne. As you can see, van hire in Leeds is the best way to get from A to B in this part of the world with stuff to move.

If you’ve built in some time to sight-see, Leeds has the hothouse atmosphere of Tropical World at Roundhay Park, the state-of-the art First Direct Arena for music and other performances, several brilliant theatres and the highly regarded Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The ‘YSP’ is 20 miles south of Leeds, and you should leave the M1 at junction 38 for it. If you’ve just used your van hire in Leeds to take a loved one to university, it’s a unique place to visit before heading home.
