Hertz at Hull Paragon Railway Station

The waterfront city of Hull has become the cultural and tourist centre at the heart of the East Yorkshire. To explore the city and its surroundings, it helps to have a hire car.

We’ve got a conveniently sited car hire pick-up point right next to the city’s main Paragon Railway Station.

We’ll get you out on the road as soon as possible and you’ll be able to reach the city centre and waterfront in a few minutes - we’re very close to the major A63 route through Hull.

A quick guide to Hull and beyond

After undertaking a transformation from its industrial past, Hull is now an attractive, lively destination that was chosen as the UK Capital of Culture in 2017. It forms a perfect base to explore the landscapes and sights of the rest of East Yorkshire.

The 21st century capital of culture

The most striking symbol of the revitalised city is clearly visible on the waterfront. You’ll spot the amazing modern architecture of The Deep as soon as you arrive in Hull. Inside the futuristic building you can see one of the world’s leading aquariums with vast tanks holding more than 3,500 creatures. Watch out for the feeding of the rays and sharks, and the chance to walk in glass tunnel through a huge fish tank.

Elsewhere in Hull you can see the results of an artistic renaissance in the city. Cultural highlights include the trail of fish sculptures through the centre and the acclaimed performances at the Truck Theatre.

Step into the city's heritage

The beautifully restored ancient home of anti-slavery campaigner William Wilberforce is a museum that forms the centrepiece of the Old Town near the cobbles of the waterfront. And don’t miss the acclaimed Maritime Museum celebrating Hull’s nautical traditions.

The Yorkshire coast

To the east lies the unique landscape of Spurn Head. It offers you a memorable drive from Hull into the flat and sparsely populated peninsular full of wildlife and dramatic seascapes.

Or drive north along the coast to find classic seaside resorts like Bridlington and Filey, where large sandy beaches are backed by traditional promenades, cafes and amusements. For a more bracing adventure, walk around the dramatic cliffs near Flamborough, and further north is the holiday town of Scarborough.

Idyllic Yorkshire Wolds

It’s a short drive north-west from Hull but this large area of gently rolling chalk hills is largely undiscovered. With a hire car you’ll have a chance to explore pretty villages and see inspiring views of the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. It’s a good place to investigate the local teashops too.
