You’ll find our Lyon Airport car hire pick-up point north of the terminal buildings and airport train station. The hire car area is located on Rue d'Allemagne.
How to get there
Lyon Airport’s car rental section is located at the north of the car park. Take the shuttle bus from the terminals to parking area P5. The P5 shuttle bus varies between every 10 to 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can walk to the Hertz location by exiting the terminals and following signs towards the airport train station. Before reaching the train station, walk northwards along Rue de France and take a right along the pathway after walking underneath the train tracks. Walk along this path which becomes Rue de Bulgarie then take a left on to Rue d'Allemagne. Follow signs for Hertz car rental.

How to get from Lyon Airport to Lyon
It takes around 35 minutes to drive from Lyon Airport to Lyon.
- Exit the car rental area and take the third exit on the roundabout.
- At the next roundabout, take the first exit onto D29.
- Take the first exit at the next roundabout to join the D147.
- Join the D302 towards A43/Lyon.
- Keep left to join the A42 towards Lyon.

Return your car at the car hire area within Lyon airport. Follow these instructions when returning from Lyon:
- Join the A43 towards Grenoble/Aéroport St Exupèry at the east of the city.
- After around 8.5 miles, keep right to merge onto the A432 towards Strasbourg/ Aéroport St Exupèry.
- Enter the airport car hire area by taking the second exit at the airport roundabout.
- Follow the road northwards and follow signs for “Voirtures de location/car rental”.
- Park up and head to the Hertz location to finalise your rental.

Are there any fees for late returns?
Yes, you may be charged for an extra day’s rental if you do not return your rental car in good time. Please ensure to drop off your car as close to your reserved drop-off time as possible. While each Hertz location may allow a limited grace period in which you can return your car, this is down to each location’s discretion.
Do I have to refuel before returning my hire car?
Depending on the refuelling option you choose before beginning your rental period, you will need to return the car with the same level of fuel it had when you picked it up. Most Hertz cars are handed over with a full tank. If you return the car with less fuel in it, you will be charged for the fuel and services.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept most major debit and credit cards. You’ll may find lower rates if you choose to pre-pay for your booking online. Alternatively, you may pay at the location. Any charges will be calculated using the local currency of the pick-up location.
What happens if the car is damaged?
Your car will be checked once you’ve dropped it off. As standard, car hire includes the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) as well as Theft Protection. However, you will be liable to cover for any damage excess. The amount differs per country.
