Most of the population of the state of South Australia live in its capital, Adelaide. This region is known as The Festival State because of the many outdoor and indoor productions of music, dance, theatre and comedy which take place in Adelaide throughout March - the height of festival season. Regular domestic and international flights are provided by Adelaide Airport while the port at Adelaide occasionally sees cruise liners. Sightseeing throughout the region is made easy when you hire a car in South Australia, as there are extensive road networks linking its towns and cities, allowing you to explore the conservation parks around Cape Jervis when you aren't taking in the big city.
Australia is well-known for its cricket, and no cricket fan's trip there isn't complete without visiting Adelaide Oval. It hosted one of the best Ashes test matches in living memory, as Australia defeated England by six wickets on a dramatic final day in December 2006. As well as cricket, you can also experience games of football, rugby union, and music concerts too. While you've got car hire in Adelaide, head over to the Botanic Garden where you get to see the Wollemi Pine which dates back to the dinosaur; explore the three glasshouses, and marvel at the Amazonica waterlily which only flowers during the night.
It is important to familiarise yourself with the speed limits before driving in South Australia. Some of the roads do not display speed limit signs but the limits are still strongly enforced. It is generally considered that if there are no speed signs, but there is street lighting or buildings then the limit is 50km/h. If there are no signs, lighting, or buildings near the road then the limit is no more than 100 km/h. You should also consider the driving conditions and adjust your speed accordingly.
