Hertz at Northampton

The East Midlands county town of Northamptonshire is, in many ways, a bridge between Birmingham and the south-east. It provides links to both London and the Midlands but is also a thriving large town in its own right. And with a large number of businesses and a University both resident, van hire in Northampton can be vital.

Our spacious, modern vans are ideal for a wide range of uses. Ferrying the students in your house to their university accommodation, moving home, large shopping expeditions, picking up white goods, sofas and more, or for your next big DIY project.

Our hire vans are nimble enough to handle city and town streets while also roomy enough to handle whatever you want to pick up or drop off.

Driving in and around Northampton

Collect your hire van from our Grafton Trading Park location and you’re in prime position for whatever you need to do. From here you can access the centre of Northampton, the neighbouring towns and villages, or head further afield. Roads radiate in all directions from here, with the main route being the M1 that passes by the town as it makes its way from London to the north. Join this south for Newport Pagnell and Milton Keynes, Luton and London, or head north for Leicester, Nottingham, Sheffield and Leeds.

England’s west and south-west is reachable by a number of routes, most notably the A45 that heads west and links up with the A425, or take the A43 south-west through Towcester and Silverstone, which links up with the M40. The A43 also leads north-east to the busy nearby towns of Kettering and Corby. You’ll find Bedford a short drive away on the A428, and the A45 threads north-east before joining up with the A14, which will take you to Cambridge and the east of England.

Navigating Northampton itself is relatively simple, although you may encounter congestion at peak times. There is an incomplete ring road circling a large part of the town’s south, made up of the A5076, Mere Way and A45. From here you can drive into the centre along the A508, Towcester Road, A4500 and A428, depending on which side you’re coming in from.

Access from the north of the town is along the A508, passing by the racecourse. The inner ring road uses the A4500, A5123, York Road and Spencer Bridge Road and circles round some of the main shopping areas, including the Grosvenor Centre. Many of the shopping hubs where a van comes in handy are along the Towcester Road, including Nene Valley and St. James retail parks, as well as a branch of B&Q. Simple to book online, Northampton van hire gives you the flexibility you need.
