Dundee is a historical city which has undergone huge regeneration in recent years. It boasts a beautiful waterfront location on the east coast of Scotland, and is now emerging as a vibrant and artistic hub.
This is the fourth largest city in Scotland, but it’s also in prime location for journeys to other iconic Scottish cities. The big three – Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen – are all approximately 90 minutes’ drive away.
To get to the capital of Edinburgh, drive south via the A90 and M90. These roads both operate under the national speed limit but have lower speed restrictions in certain sections, so be vigilant with signs.
Driving to Glasgow takes you through the historical city of Perth on the A9, while the port city of Aberdeen lies straight up the A90 from Dundee.
Speed limits in this area follow the UK standards – 30mph in the centre of Dundee, 70mph on the surrounding motorways. However, one to watch out for is the A90 which has been lowered from 60mph to 40mph.
When it comes to parking, you have plenty of options in Dundee. There are hundreds of parking spaces at Overgate Shopping Centre and the Wellgate Centre. Plus, there are surface car parks dotted around the city. Remember to take care when navigating multi-storey car parks due to the height and size of your van.
Heading to the University of Dundee? There are various locations across the city where you can collect your accommodation keys – you can find out more on the official website – while the university itself is less than two miles from the city centre.
