The Secret Burger may just be one of the most coveted burgers in Boston. Alden and Harlow only cooks up a limited number of its house burger in one sitting, which means hungry restaurant-goers have to wait patiently, not quite knowing if it will be available when it comes to their turn to order. So if you want to get your lips wrapped round one, you’d better arrive when the eatery opens for dinner at 5pm, as they’ve been known to sell out by 5.20pm. Since the burger is ‘secret’ the menu doesn’t give much away other than it is an ‘8oz House Creekstone Grind’ that comes with ‘your faith’ and a house made roll. It has, however, been featured in numerous Boston newspapers and magazines, with rave reviews making it not-so-secret after all. From what has been reported, the smoky meaty burger is dressed with lettuce, a secret sauce and crisp frico (an Italian fried wafer, made up of shredded potato and cheese), all sandwiched between a soft bun, and served alongside a generous pile of house made chips. If you happen to be one of the unlucky ones who miss out on the first batch of burgers, you have to wait until their late night menu begins, when another limited round of burgers are released from the kitchen. It pays to get yourself on the Alden & Harlow burger waiting list.
