The now legendary party scene may have made the Balearic Island famous, but Ibiza offers up so much more than nightclubs. Stray away from the main strip and you'll find an Ibiza of charming towns, first-rate museums and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The white isle is a utopia for those looking to immerse themselves in golden sun, clear blue seas and remarkable culture. Here are some of our favourite things to do in Ibiza:

Coastal areas

With over 200km of coastline, it's hardly surprising that Ibiza is home to some of the most sublime beaches in Europe. While Benirras beach is popular, as much for its vibrant atmosphere as its clear waters, we recommend heading north to the much less crowded Cala Xarraca. This beautiful beach is hidden by a lovely forest that not only adds to the beauty, but also makes the area feel as though it's your own personal playground.

Culture

As becomes clear when you see the over 25-metre tall stone ramparts, Ibiza Town was once a fortification before it became a tourist hotspot. Despite the plethora of welcoming restaurants and shops, the town has retained its sense of history. The area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site home to a castle, cathedral and some great museums. It's worth noting that as well as detailing Ibiza's fascinating history, the area also offers up some simply stunning views out over the Mediterranean and the rest of the island.

Shopping

Ibiza is packed full of boutiques and markets offering you a fine array of items to return back from your travels with. Vincente Ganesha is the oldest fashion store in the Old Town and over the years has gained its reputation for stocking almost every style under the sun. If it's a market you're after though, look no further than Las Dalias. Open for the best part of half a century now, it's the perfect place to grab yourself a souvenir.

Food

As you'd expect from an island as rich in natural produce as Ibiza, the food is absolutely spectacular. The Fish Shack in Talamanca is a great place to head to if you're looking for a relaxed environment and lip-smackingly fresh food. You won't find a menu - only what the fisherman has reeled in that day and cooked to perfection. If it's something more formal you're after, try Sa Capella in San Antonio. This hip and happening restaurant serves up divine food in chic surroundings.

National Parks

Ibiza has two superb National Parks, the Ses Salinas National Park and the nature reserve of Es Vedra. Located high up in the middle of the island, we recommend hiring a car and heading to Ses Salinas. Home of salt lakes and forests, you'll find plenty to keep you entertained as you explore in the Iberian sunshine.

With outstanding natural beauty, phenomenal shops and restaurants as well as a captivating history, Ibiza offers plenty away from its club scene.
