In the years since it was founded in 1925, the Hatton Gallery has become one of the North East’s principal centres of culture, providing exhibits ranging from modern art to pieces dating back to the 14th century. Among the prize works you can find here are ones by Eduardo Paolozzi, Wyndham Lewis, Richard Hamilton and Francis Bacon, while the gallery has also housed the Merz Barn wall created by Kurt Schwitter since the mid-1960s. Alongside these permanent exhibits, it features talks by curators and artists, displays by Newcastle University students, and interactive activities that the whole family can enjoy. Free to visit, the Hatton Gallery is open every day except Sunday.
