Along with its bustling landmarks, Edinburgh has its fair share of relaxing, green spaces hidden away from the traffic - and spending some quiet time at The Meadows is its own just reward. Running alongside the university campus, the park is a prime picnic spot - and with the independent delis and cafés running along nearby Bruntsfield Place, you don't need to wander far for lunch. On the greenspace you'll also find a mini golf course to practice putting, as well as a number of public tennis courts. In the summer there are many organised events including sports days and cricket matches, which make for a day well spent spectating or just laying back in the sun - safely away from the wicket of course.
