Zweibrücken International Airport stands in southwest Germany, just a mile from the French border. This small regional airfield is three miles southeast of the Rhineland town of Zweibrücken, amid farmland next to the villages of Rimschweiler and Althornbach. The airport has simple facilities and parking, and is somewhat overshadowed by the much larger Saarbrücken Airport just 25 miles away. However, if you hire a car at Zweibrücken Airport you'll find that the motorway access road, the ‘Europaallee', links straight to the A8 motorway. This road links Zweibrücken with Pirmasens to the east and Luxembourg in the west.
Visitors who have hired a car at Zweibrücken Airport will find that the town itself is an easy drive to the northwest. The town is built round a historic pedestrian heart alongside the old Ducal Castle. There are interesting museums and churches, and an old wartime bunker to explore too. Away from the centre, the Europas Rosengarten is a popular and long-standing botanical garden specialising in roses, The Style Outlets is a large discount designer band discount mall and the World of Fun is a family friendly complex with bowling, mini-golf, soft-play centre and ice skating rink.
