Rostock is a city in northern Germany, with the northern district of Warnemünde facing directly out onto the Baltic Sea. This means Rostock does have a popular beach and it should be noted that the area around Warnemünde, including the harbour, is the beating heart of Rostock, although it is technically a 15 minute drive from the city centre. Car hire from Rostock is always popular as a way of navigating the city. The Maritime Festival is a particularly busy time, with ships sailing up into the harbour towards Rostock Old Town and the city's main churches.
Visitors to Rostock will often take the opportunity to head for Warnemünde Beach. The lighthouse and its surroundings are popular with tourists with the Alter Strom part of the harbour being lovely at night. It should be noted that Warnemünde Beach is a 17 minute drive from the city centre using the An der Stadtautobahn/B103. Hiring a car from Rostock is often the best way to navigate the city sprawl. For cooler days, Rostock Old Town and the famous gothic churches will be much more appealing; St Mary's and St Peter's are two most impressive. Rent a car from Rostock and make speedy connections between the Old Quarter of town and the bustling seafront.
