Minden is situated in the central north western area of Germany, more specifically in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The buildings and landmarks of the town are ornate, many clinging on to their old timber frames or part of the traditional German Weser Renaissance architecture. Minden Cathedral is unique and was rebuilt in the 5s following war damage. The town's keen theatre scene is also certainly worth a mention.
The surrounding Wiehen and Weser countryside makes car hire in Minden popular. Hiring a car in Minden is available from Hannover Airport or the town centre itself.
Anyone visiting Minden will be struck by local landmarks such as the Cathedral of St. Gorgonius, Minden Theatre and the town's worthy museums, but perhaps most all by the town's old-world 'Weser Renaissance' architecture. If you're hiring a car in Minden you may well venture out into the beautiful hills of Wiehen heading towards Münster, which incidentally is only an hour-and-a-half drive on the A30/A1. Hannover is also popular with visitors who rent a car in Minden - around 50minutes drive via the efficient A2 road; here you can see the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen and Hannover City Hall. Bielefeld is just 45mins west - also on the A2 - where you can see the enchanting Sparrenburg Castle.
