Orange is a city in New South Wales, 254km outside Sydney. It is largely an agricultural and mining city, and is also known as 'Colour City' because of its distinct seasons. Mount Canobolas and its lake are close by, so car hire in Orange is a good way to get to the mountain, from which there are amazing views of the city. Orange also produces a lot of fruit apart from Oranges, which don't grow in the climate, and the city is well known for its fine food. Orange has a lively music scene, and there are several music clubs that meet on set days of the month so you can catch a band in town. Orange City has great food, great music, and beautiful surroundings. A short drive out of the city is the Borenore Caves Reserve, where you can explore the caves (accompanied by good shoes and a torch). The Tunnel Cave is completely dark, so you will need to be a little bit brave to explore it, but the Arch Cave is reasonable well lit, and both have interesting rock formations. Those not wanting to venture into the caves can explore the long hiking trails around the reserve, which also contains orchards and vineyards ? Orange is becoming well known for producing good wine.
