Stoke-on-Trent is known for a lot more than just pottery and ceramics these days. It has a modern, diversified economy that encompasses the service industry and distribution. The unique make-up of six towns in one city means that it also has a thriving retail sector that makes van hire even handier.
Several major roads connect the city with the surrounding area, most notably Queensway, which is part of the A500. It leads north out of Stoke and then swings west to link up with Nantwich. You can also drive south out of Stoke on it, linking up with the M6 motorway, which bypasses the city on its way from Birmingham and on into the north-west.
The nearby A53 runs both south-west and north-east, the latter way cutting through the Peak District National Park, the former taking you to Shrewsbury. Take the A52 east for Derby, and the A50 south-east to pass south of Derby to Castle Donington and Kegworth.
In the city itself, you’ll find Staffordshire University on the A52, a good route if you’re using Stoke on Trent van hire to move a student into their new accommodation. City Road runs east to west through the Fenton area, the A52 west through Hartshill towards Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Meir Park B&Q, our van hire hub, is to the east of the city on the A50/Uttoxeter Road. You’ll also find a furniture store here. Other prominent retail parks you might want to access include Festival, featuring B&Q and Next Home, near the A500/A53 intersection. Close by is the Octagon Retail Park, known for its homeware and furniture shops. Drop by here and you can take your purchase straight home rather than wait for delivery – that’s the beauty of van hire in Stoke-on-Trent.
