One of Miami's most distinctive buildings, the Freedom Tower is now an acclaimed art gallery. If you visit the Miami Dade College Art Museum in the downtown district, you'll be able to browse the highlights of the college's permanent collection, which contains more than 1,700 pieces, including paintings, photography, videos and sculptures. Its particular strength is in pop art of the sixties and seventies. While you're there don't forget that Freedom Tower itself is a piece of design history. It was built in 1925 as a replica of a real Spanish tower and served as the headquarters for the Miami News.
