LA's farmer's market started in 1934 and has expanded to become a city institution and tourist attraction. You'll find more than 100 restaurants, grocers, food vendors and produce stalls on the permanent seven-days-a-week site on the corner of Fairfax Avenue and 3rd Street. If you visit the Farmers Market you'll find local Californian produce and plenty of examples of ethnic foods from LA's immigrant communities. It's a great place to eat, shop or just browse and people-watch. Don't forget that the market used to be a favourite haunt of Hollywood stars like Mae West, Mickey Rooney and Elvis Presley.
