An area known for its Atlantic coastline, Colonial past and beautiful autumn colours, New England is somewhere you’ll love exploring. This region of the United States is made of six Northeast states including New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine. Within this scenic region there are many view-packed drives and fun-filled activities for holidaymakers to enjoy. But with such a large area to cover, it can be difficult to know where to go - so here are the sights and sounds of New England we recommend exploring. 

Conway Scenic Railroad, NH

If it’s spectacular scenery you’re after, start by checking out the Conway Scenic Railroad in New Hampshire. Board the old-fashioned valley steam train from the station (built in 1874) for a taste of the old times, enjoying the restored locomotives and first-class dining. Riding the Notch Train is a fantastic experience too, taking passengers up steep ravines with views of panoramic mountain vistas; just remember to pack your camera.




Battleship Cove, MA

Battleship Cove in Mt Hope Bay is a maritime museum and war memorial featuring the world’s largest collection of naval vessels from the Second World War. Ideal for history buffs, families or anyone who fancies learning about the past in a hands-on way, exploring Battleship Cove is the perfect way to spend an afternoon in Southeast Massachusetts. Crawl inside the turret of a battleship gun, squeeze yourself into the sleeping quarters and walk the decks for an immersive history lesson.




Museum of Science, Boston MA

Kids and adults alike will enjoy a day’s marvelling at the exhibits in Boston’s Museum of Science. Learn about space travel, feats of engineering and the wonder of the natural world. Popular exhibits include the Hall of Human Life, which will see you becoming ‘part of the story’ through digital media and personal interaction, answering fascinating questions and taking you on an amazing journey through the human body. There’s plenty to see and do, so set aside a day to work your way around the exhibits to make the most of what’s on offer.

 

Narragansett Town Beach, RI

If you’d like to make the most of the New England coastline, head straight to Narragansett Town Beach. The beach is in pristine condition, with excellent amenities and ample parking, making it an ideal spot for families. Here you can sign up for surfing lessons, relax on the sand or take a sunset stroll along the shoreline, before enjoying a seafood dinner at one of the many fantastic seaside restaurants. Head into Narragansett itself for a look around a quintessential New England town coastal town, complete with beautiful architecture.




New England has some of the United States’ very best destinations for sightseeing and adventure. Enjoy the drive around the stunning scenery of New England, and consider New Hampshire as a starting point; it’s a good central location from which to start your adventure.
