Conway Scenic Railroad, NH

If it’s spectacular scenery you’re after, start by checking out the Conway Scenic Railroad in New Hampshire. Board the old-fashioned valley steam train from the station (built in 1874) for a taste of the old times, enjoying the restored locomotives and first-class dining. Riding the Notch Train is a fantastic experience too, taking passengers up steep ravines with views of panoramic mountain vistas; just remember to pack your camera.

Battleship Cove, MA

Ideal for history buffs, families or anyone who fancies learning about the past in a hands-on way, exploring Battleship Cove is the perfect way to spend an afternoon in Southeast Massachusetts. Crawl inside the turret of a battleship gun, squeeze yourself into the sleeping quarters and walk the decks for an immersive history lesson.

Museum of Science, Boston MA

Kids and adults alike will enjoy a day’s marvelling at the exhibits in Boston’s Museum of Science. Learn about space travel, feats of engineering and the wonder of the natural world. Popular exhibits include the Hall of Human Life, which will see you becoming ‘part of the story’ through digital media and personal interaction, answering fascinating questions and taking you on an amazing journey through the human body. There’s plenty to see and do, so set aside a day to work your way around the exhibits to make the most of what’s on offer.
