No trip to the States would be complete without a visit to see a game of American football. While the rules may be a bit difficult to follow and games can take much more than the hour on the clock, being in attendance as the teams stake their claim on a place in the Superbowl can be an enthralling experience. So whether you’re a keen NFL fan or have only caught the Superbowl half-time shows,  you’ll be sure to enjoy your trip to some of the best stadiums on US soil.

While many teams do have very high prices there are some very good ones that are much more affordable, and here are five of the cheapest.

Jacksonville Jaguars

$57.65

The Jaguars have been full members of the NFL since 1995 and play at EverBank Field in Jacksonville. In their relatively short history in the league they’ve made it through to the Superbowl playoffs an impressive six times, with the last one being in 2007 – which means they’re due for another good run soon. When you’re in Jacksonville also check out the Friendship Fountain, the world’s largest when it was built in 1965.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

$63.59

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers play at the city’s Raymond James Stadium and are owned by the Glazer family, who also hold a large ownership stake in Manchester United. Besides the Buccaneers, or Bucs, as they’re known, another of Tampa’s key attractions is the Busch Gardens theme park and zoo.

Buffalo Bills

$64.01

The Buffalo Bills hail from the Buffalo-Niagara region in the north-east of the country and are notable for being the only NFL team that plays its home games in New York State – though billed as such, both the New York Giants and New York Jets share a stadium in New Jersey. The Bills currently hold a record that they will definitely want to break this season, of being the only team never to reach the playoffs in the 21st century.

Oakland Raiders

$64.80

Over in Oakland, the Raiders have won a total of three Superbowls in their history, in 1976, 1980 and 1983. Within easy reach of San Francisco, Oakland also offers plenty for the non-football fan to enjoy including the Museum of California, home to almost two million items.

Miami Dolphins

$65.16

The Miami Dolphins are one of the oldest football clubs in Florida, and play their home games in the city’s Hard Rock Stadium. Their most successful period was in the 70s and 80s when, under the coach Don Shula, they won two Superbowls and five AFC championships. Miami itself boasts an amazing zoo and plenty of theme parks nearby.

If you are visiting Miami and want to really make the most of your trip, then you might find that hiring a car is the best way to fit everything into your schedule.
