Örebro Airport stands among farmland around six miles to the southwest of the city. It's a small single-runway regional airport but handles international and domestic flights. You'll find there's a modern terminal building and plenty of outside car parking. If you pick up a hire car from Örebro Airport, note that the road links are good: the airport access road leads straight to the E18 ‘Västerleden' motorway, the west-to-east trunk road across Sweden's central lake district to the west of Stockholm. The E20 passes close by the east too. This will take you into the heart of Örebro or south to Kumla.
Hiring a car in Örebro means you'll have easy access to the Svartån River. There are plenty of options to visit through your time in the area, whether taking in the history of the area through the architecture, or visiting the museums and galleries. The Örebro square is an historic space, while the 13th-century castle on an island in the river now forms a familiar landmark. The best views, however, come at the top of the water tower which dominates the landscape, resembling a propped up UFO and the most popular tourist attraction is the Gustavsvik waterpark, just outside the city.
