Norrköping Central Station is a grand old white building standing on Norra Promenade. The city's main station was built in 1866 and is now something of a landmark. It serves passengers on the Swedish Southern Main Line, which runs between Katrineholm and Malmo. Travellers who arrange to pick up a hire car in Norrköping will soon find that there is a wide-open space in front of the station complex. There's space to drop off passengers and a tram-line, then on one side is the bus station and on the other is car parking. There's also parking on the other side of the tree-lined Norra Promenade. The city centre is only a few hundred yards to the south.
Visitors who pick up a hire car at Norrköping Central Station will soon find that the city stands among the classic watery landscape of south-eastern Sweden. Norrköping has an attractive riverfront where old textile mills have been converted to visitor attractions. Other highlights of the city include the Arbetets Museum and Carl Johans Park, which is a cactus plantation and features 25,000 cactus plants each summer. While in Norrköping, you are also in driving of the Kolmården, the largest zoo in Scandinavia.
