Norrköping Airport stands among flat farmland on the eastern outskirts of the city. If you pick up a hire car here you'll find it's only just over a mile's drive into the city centre. The airport itself mainly deals with domestic flights, but has a modern terminal with shopping and a café. There's a selection of paid-for car parks outside and the road connections are good: the E22 and E4 trunk roads are close by giving easy access to all part of southeast Sweden. Lake Braviken is less than a mile to the north and Lake Ensjon is just to the south.
Visitors who hire a car at Norrköping airport will soon find there are in the midst of a watery landscape. Norrköping itself stands at the mouth of the river Motala Ström where it feeds into Lake Braviken, which is actually a long inlet that leads out to the Baltic Sea. There's an attractive waterfront where the river flows through the city. The old textile mills here are now visitor attractions. Elsewhere, look out for the unlikely sight of a popular cactus plantation. You'll find it in Carl Johans Park in the centre and it features 25,000 cactus plants.
