Luleå is a city located on the north coast of Sweden and it is the capital of Norrbotten County. The city has its own airport which is situated approximately 5 km to the south east of Luleå. It is the sixth biggest airport in Sweden and it is home to the longest runway in the country which is actually also used by the F 21 Luleå Air Force Base. Hire a car from Luleå Airport and stop off at Gammelstad Church Town which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is probably the best preserved example of the type of town that was once found all over Scandinavia.
You can rent a car from Luleå Airport and drive into the centre of the city. If you are visiting in winter you can try skiing, ice skating, or sledging; but don't worry the roads are always kept clear. In summer, visitors should take advantage of the city's love of sports. If you would rather watch sport than play it then make sure that you catch a game of hockey or basketball, both of which are played at an elite level. How about heading to Filmpool North for a tour; it is the country's second biggest regional centre for the production of TV and films.
