Höga Kusten Airport stands between the towns of Kramfors and Sollefteå near the western coast of Sweden. It occupies a flat strip of land alongside the west bank of the Ångermanälven (Ångerman River), one of Sweden's longest. The Ådalen Valley, as it's known, is a pretty area of woods, lakes and islands. The village of Sandslån is on the opposite bank, Nyland is a short way south on the west bank. Visitors who pick up a hire car at Kramfors/Sollefteå Airport will find that Kramfors is the closer of the two towns: it's about eight miles drive to the south. Sollefteå is almost double that distance to the northwest.
Renowned for its stark cliff face, Höga Kusten is the coastline in this area of Sweden and is so spectacular it has been designated a World Heritage site. Hire a car at Kramfors/Sollefteå Airport and you can explore renowned scenic Ådalen valley too, with its winding wooded banks and pretty islands. It's a popular area for leisurely touring. From Kramfors, visitors often choose to take a roadtrip, driving through the high suspension bridge; while from Sollefteå it's rewarding to drive up into the hills above the town for dramatic views along the valley, especially on the south bank of the Ångerman.
