The town of Karlskoga is in the south central region of Örebro County in Sweden. The town is 5 years old and grew to play an important part in the processing of iron due to the number of ironworks in town. The most known of these was Bofors, named after a nearby town, which was once owned by Alfred Nobel - inventor of dynamite and of course the namesake of the Nobel Prize.
Hire a car in Karlskoga for the chance to see Nobel's home and the many other landmarks in town; it sits on the E18 road which also allows you access to other major roads in Sweden and Scandinavia.
Rent a car in Karlskoga and drive about 10 km north to the Lunedet nature reserve which covers 150 hectares of land and contains many areas of water. The lakes here give you the chance to try your hand at boating while you admire the rich and diverse plant and animal life. Many animals from beavers to elks have made their homes here.
If you are visiting the region then make sure you stop at the Alfred Nobel museum, located in the house that he spent his last few summers in. Here you have the chance to learn about Nobel's life and work amid beautiful countryside scenery.
