Arboga Railway Station stands in the heart of the city centre just 500 yards from the main square. It's a modern station with a distinctive red clock tower and parking on both sides of the track linked by a pedestrian underpass. It stands next to the city's sports arena on the north side of the River Arboga that flows through the centre. Tourists who arrange to pick up a hire car at the station will find it stands on the Centrumleden road, which acts as an inner ring road for the city, linking easily with the E20 and E18 on the outskirts.
The historic city of Arboga was once a royal residence. Now it's more famous as the place that two important highways meet. So if you have a hire car here you'll find it's an easy city to navigate with few pedestrianised zones and plenty of free parking. There's an old quarter around the river housing well-preserved medieval buildings. Look out for the ancient town hall and 14th-century bridge. There's a historic herb garden, weapons museum and a selection of old churches to explore. Further afield the countryside features gently rolling hills of farmland and forests with plenty of picturesque lakes dotted around.
