Guaynabo is a town which stretches right up to Puerto Rico's northern coast, bordering on San Juan and often considered as part of its wider metropolitan area. The town is home to a number of affluent suburbs which have brought first-class amenities into the area. Guaynabo is also the seat of much of Puerto Rico's history - as evidenced by the Caparra Ruins Historical Museum & Park, which houses some early 16th century Spanish settlements. Nature is also abundant here with La Marquesa Forest Park and its exciting cable car route.
Car hire in Guaynabo gives you fast access to San Juan, as well as some of the best beaches on Puerto Rico's northern coast.
If you're in Guaynabo to experience Puerto Rican history, the Caparra Archaeological site is an essential insight into the lives of the early Spanish settlers. The site is a few miles outside of the town centre via the Expreso Martínez Nadal, so hiring a car in Guaynabo is advisable.
The La Marquesa Forest Park is a similar distance to the south if you choose to rent a car in Guaynabo. The park has a wonderful observation tower and network of cable cars, which offer some astounding views. San Juan is a short drive north, and here you'll find Puerto Rican history aplenty, with sites such as the Castillo de San Cristobal.
