You'll find the village of Roervik on an island off central Norway's west coast. It's the administrative centre of the Vikna Archipelago of more than 6, islands and actually stands on the largest: Inner-Vikna island. If you hire a car in Roervik you'll find that the island is connected to the mainland via the Rv77 and its bridges, as well as by ferry and air services. It's a beautiful area to tour, spotting lighthouses, fishing, canoeing or just admiring the spectacular seascapes. Don't miss the unique windmill park, with a collection of five mills looking out over the coast of Mellom-Vikna.
Roervik is best known for its airport, which is four miles to the southwest. Its harbour is also a port of call on the daily Hurtigruten sailing itinerary. The village itself stands on the east coast of the island, meaning it is very sheltered with fertile gardens. If you hire a car in Roervik you'll be able to tour the sights whichinclude prehistoric burial mounds, pretty wooden cottages, a preserved 19th-century trading post and the Norveg Coast Museum. This contemporary structure at the end of a jetty has been designed to look like sails but houses displays telling the story of coastal culture and industries.
