Hertz at Larvik

The city of Larvik stands on Norway's south coast and on the main E18 coast road. It has grown up between the mouth of the Numedalslågen River and Lake Farris. Larvik is 65 miles south west of Oslo. Visitors who hire a car in Larvik can explore the surrounding area, including highlights like the High and Low Activity Park with its zip wire, rope bridge and ladder trails through the forest, and the Foldvik Family Park, with its gardens, domestic animals and family activities. The old citadel fortification at Stavern makes a good trip too. The area is rich in natural attractions, like preserved beech forests and sandy beaches, including Lydhusstranda at Naverfjorden.

Larvik is an attractive waterside town with a busy harbor; ferries leave regularly for Denmark if you wish to explore another area. Hire a car in Larvik to tour round the city and its immediate surroundings. You'll see a collection of preserved historic buildings housing visitor attractions, including Larvik Museum, which tells the story of how the region grew rich on making iron, the 17th-Century Manor House which holds a collection of antiques, and the Maritime Museum housed in the old customs house. Larvik's open town square is a relaxing place to wander, note the sculptures made from local granite. Elsewhere, look out for the childhood home of adventurer Thor Heyerdahl and the new modern waterfront Bølgen Culture House on Larvik Fjord.
