Lakselv is the largest village in Porsanger Municipality in the Finnmark County, in north Norway. The village is located to the south of Porsangerfjorden which is a fjord in Finnmark. Hiring a car from Lakselv Banak Airport lets you make the most of your visit to this area which is popular during the summer months for salmon and trout fishing. Fishing enthusiasts head to the Lakselva River which flows through Lakselv and is a prime destination for a successful catch. During the winter months skiing, ice fishing, and dog sledding are popular with both tourists and locals alike.
Rent a car from Lakselv Banak Airport and take a trip just 5-10 minutes from the airport where if you are lucky you will have the chance to witness the aurora borealis also known as the Northern Lights. The lack of light pollution means that Lakselv is considered as possibly the best place to catch the lights in the whole country. During the summer months a visit to Stabbursdalen National Park is a must as it is a beautiful place to stretch your legs or head out on a hike. The park is located just west of Lakselv and it is the site of the most northern pine forest in the world.
