In the west of lower Norway's Møre og Romsdal County You'll find the village of Geiranger. it's the nearest town to one of the country's most visited fjords, Geirangerfjord, which is visited by an estimated 7, tourists every year to see its amazing waterfalls and take part in various scenic tours and water sports. Hire a car in Geiranger and You'll find many major connecting roads around the UNESCO-listed beauty of the Geirangerfjord, offering a near-unlimited number of vantage points to view the jaw-dropping sights of the fjord and the numerous waterfalls running off it.
The bicycle is a preferred mode of transport in this region, and if you plan to get around on two wheels the views are very much worth it. Also worth a trip is the mini-cruise across Geirangerfjord between Geiranger and Hellesylt .- It's only an hour long, but with so many amazing displays on offer it's well worth the trip. Of particular note are the two waterfalls on opposite sides of the fjord: the Suitor which is said to be wooing the Seven Sisters.
Hiring a car in Geiranger also allows you access to nearby Aalesund - the shopping capital of the region and home to a great many restaurants where you can sample fine Norwegian cuisine.
