Hamilton is a fast developing city on New Zealand's North Island. The city's large student population means it's led to a lot of modern attractions and cultural amenities springing up around the city, particularly in Hamilton Central. The Base is one of the countries biggest shopping malls, but for something more serene, Hamilton Gardens are viewed as one of the city's real treasures and major landmarks.
Hiring a car from Hamilton Airport is the best way to make the 10 minute transfer to the city. It gives you access Hamilton's Beaches and the famed Hobbit movie sets, as well as the natural wonders of the Waikato region.
Hamilton's attractions are spread over a fairly wide radius, so hiring a car from Hamilton Airport is highly recommended. The renowned Hamilton Gardens are a short drive south down the Waikato River, and if you're visiting the famous University of Waikato, you'll need to make the short drive east. The popular Base Shopping Centre is just north of the city. For local interest, the Waikato Stadium is fairly central, and the Waikato Museum is worth a look.
If you rent a car from Hamilton Airport, head east for Matamata and witness the outstanding countryside used for the Hobbit movies. Alternatively, head south for the sublime beauty of the Waitomo Caves.

Rental Qualifications and RequirementsOverall good experience renting with Hertz. However it is important to note though that the location for the Hertz Hamilton airport is not where they have put it- they are located directly within the airport, not by the roundabout off airport road as the current location states. The phone number associated with this Google location is also out of service. To return your car, bring it directly into the airport parking lot and park at the Hertz allocated spaces , and drop off the key inside the airport at the Hertz counter.

Refueling Options
Hertz provide you with a full tank of fuel at time of rental and options are available for replacing the fuel you use.
Options include -
Fuel Purchase Option (FPO)

Renter Refills Vehicle
You may personally refill the tank at a petrol/fuel station with the correct fuel for the vehicle, using either unleaded or diesel according to which fuel the vehicle takes.
