Hertz at Groningen Airport

Groningen Airport Eelde stands next to the village of Eelde in the northeast of the Netherlands. The city of Groningen is six miles to the north. It's a modern international airport with easy transport links and fast check-in times, so it has become a popular alternative to Amersterdam's Schiphol Airport. There are plenty of parking spaces at Eelde, with no need to pre-book. Travellers who hire a car at Groningen Airport find it's well-placed for the Dutch road network too. The north-south A28 motorway passes by the end of the runway and the west-east A7 motorway passes through Groningen itself.

With a hire car from Groningen Airport, it's easy to reach the centre of Groningen. You'll find it's the largest city in the north of the country and has plenty of visitor attractions. Like many Dutch cities, there is a restored historic centre surrounded by a network of canals. Note that within this ‘Diepenring' traffic is very restricted in favour of bicycles. The highlights here include The Groninger Museum, an internationally acclaimed modern art gallery, and the ‘Grote Markt', the central public square surrounded by medieval buildings. Visitors take tours by canal or bike, or climb the Martini Church Tower for a great view across the old quarter.
