Hertz at 23 Rue Marcel Dassault

Rochfort is a wonderful town located in south-western France. It would be easy to overlook given the popularity of La Rochelle to the North and Royan to the South - both lovely choices for an Atlantic coastline holiday. Despite the town's relatively undiscovered state, Rochfort reigns as the historical and cultural hub that it is.

As a naval stronghold under Louis XIV's reign, it has a multitude of historic buildings and monuments, including the beautiful Corderie Royale, which was the longest building in the world at the time of construction. The town centre is situated less than twenty minutes from the airport making it a great pick up location to hire a car in Rochefort and explore the surrounding area.

If you decide you want to see the inland side to France as well as experience the beach life, then a great choice would be Limoges. At under three hour's drive from the town, it makes ideal use of your hire car from Rochefort, particularly when a lot of what Limoges has to offer can be found in the surrounding rural land.

Limoges is probably most famous for its porcelain production. Of course there are museums to visit if you want to find out more and the city plays host to one of the finest city halls in the country. The city is steeped in history, and there's something to find down every street.
