We used Hertz car hire in France. Pick up at Gare de Nord drop off at Paris Charles de Gaulle. Could not fault them which was in stark contrast to some of the very bad reviews. We will be using them again.

First and foremost: don't be a unreasonable! I've read a lot of pretty bad reviews about this location, but had an awesome experience in all the process... Remember that Paris is one of the most visited cities in the world and if you come in during the high season at summer time there will be lines everywhere. The staff was very pleasant and as I got the full insurance coverage they gave me an upgrade of the selected car. Sure this happened because it was by the end of August and Paris as not that crowded. The store is inside a shopping mall right next to the Louvre museum and if you can get there earlier than 10am it's gonna be pretty easy to find yourself around.

After reading the negative reviews, I almost cancelled our reservation. So glad I didn’t! Our experience with this office was exceptional! The customer service representative was kind and informative. When she realized we had been given the wrong keys, she raced up the stairs to the parking garage to give us the correct keys before we even made it to the car! Though driving through Paris is not for the weak of heart, the drop off location was easy to find and there is a box to leave keys in if you arrive after hours. (Make sure to arrive before 11pm)
