Draguignan is situated close to the Cote d'Azur in the southeast of France. It provides prime access to the illustrious cities that line the coast, as well as the towns and villages of the Var department in Provence. Shopping facilities in Draguignan are excellent; the Place du Marché has a bustling market every Wednesday, contrasting with modern amenities on Boulevard Georges Clemenceau. Hiring a car from Draguignan means you can head to the coast of St Tropez or Agay in under an hour.
The Tour de l'Horloge is unmissable, situated atop the hill of Draguignan. The town winds down through the Place du Marche – home of the weekly market – and the pleasant old town buildings including the Church of St Michel. The Musée Municipal is the town's showpiece museum which includes works by Rembrandt. Car hire from Draguignan allows you to visit Provence attractions such as the nearby Abbey of Thoronet and Chateau de Berne - both wonderful excursions just off the D562. Head for the beach at St Tropez (Plage de Pampelonne is an hour south), or alternatively head for the mountainous coastline wilderness of Agay.
