The historic town of Dignes-les-Bains is the capital of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region. This picturesque town is the primary centre of the lavender trade, but more notably, it's famous for featuring in Victor Hugo's renowned novel Les Misérables. In Roman times, the region was known for its hot springs, and still today, the town boasts relaxing thermal baths and a spa.
