Caen is in Normandy, north-west France; only a few kilometres away from the English Channel. Normandy is famous for great food and its long history. The nearby town of Mondeville has the “Mondeville 2” regional shopping centre, so car hire from Caen means that visitors can enjoy some retail therapy.
Taking advantage of car hire from Caen is also a good way to visit the various attractions in the city, such as the Abbey of Saint-Étienne, which dates back to the time of William the Conqueror and now houses the town hall in the southern parts of the building.
Paris is only a two and a half hour drive away from Caen, opening up all the possibilities that the capital holds. Because Caen is close to the coast you have access to some of France's most beautiful beaches.
The Abbey of Mont St Michel is also in Normandy, which is one of the best examples of medieval architecture in the area. The historic harbour of Honfleur is a short drive away if you rent a car from Caen – the town is overflowing with old buildings, and has remained widely unchanged for hundreds of years, giving a traditional French experience.
