Hertz at Ales

Visiting Alès is a real treat if you're looking for a truly French experience. Situated in the south of France the weather is phenomenal, enabling you to soak up the atmosphere of this picturesque town in a way only of the Mediterranean. The town is set against the backdrop rolling countryside. It's best to rent a car in Alès to explore the countryside surrounding the town and its rich history.

There's a wide selection of free to enter museums, including the archaeological and fine arts Musée du Colombier. This city offers some spectacular architectural sights, including churches, bridges and fountains, as well as a tourist information building that fuses historic stonework with modern glass.

It's worth hiring a car in Alès and heading over to Millau, where you can see the Maillau viaduct. This spectacular feat of engineering carries traffic 343m above the River Tarn. At its highest point this award winning bridge stands taller than the Eiffel tower, it's got to be seen to be believed.

On your way to the viaduct you have a choice of routes, but for an extra 30 minutes you can drive though the Cévennes National Park. A wonderful experience, taking in a nature and beauty of the region
