Kokkola is a major city found in the Central Ostrobothnia region of west Finland. As the major city of the entire region, much of the local employment is based here. Kokkola has a very varied culture which centres on rock, jazz, and classical music. Hiring a car from Kokkola Airport, about 12 miles south of the town itself, gives you the freedom to visit the local music venues and discover some musical history of your own. Kokkola is home to the world famous Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra which regularly performs in the city, as well as other venues around Finland, and even around the world.
Rent a car from Kokkola Airport and experience the wide range of festivals that the city hosts. In August you can attend the Venetian Night celebration which is more than 100 years old. As the evening gets darker you can see kilometres of torches and bonfires all along the coastline. As well as music from top artists there is also a spectacular firework display. Learn all about the history of Kokkola at the KH Renlund Museum which is found in a traditional merchant mansion among the diverse architecture of the Museum Quarter.
