Kittilä is a municipality of Finland and a popular resort with tourists. It is home to Levi which is a ski resort on Levi Fell that has its own slalom event every season. This event is part of the Alpine World Cup Circuit. It also offers visitors downhill and cross country skiing, along with snow shoeing. Hiring a car from Kittilä Airport means that you can collect your car with ease and head straight for the slopes. The town is also famous for having the lowest recorded temperature in Finnish history. This was -51.5 degrees back in January 1999.
Rent a car from Kittilä Airport and take a trip to the nearby Snow Village Lainio that features about 15 million kilos of snow and 300,000 kilos of clear natural ice which is used to create the stunning village. It changes shape each year so you won't see the same thing twice. There are snow sculptures, an ice bar, an ice restaurant, and a snow hotel to be enjoyed. Visit the Särestöniemi Museum in the neighbouring village of Kaukonen. It features around 500 pieces of work by the well known Finnish artist Reidar Särestöniemi.
