Denmark’s third largest city, Odense stands on the island of Funen between Jutland and Zealand. If you have hired a car in Odense you’ll note that it’s 1 miles southwest of Copenhagen along the E2 motorway. Odense also has a busy harbour, important railway links and its own airport, Hans Christian Andersen Airport on the northern outskirts. Funen is known as Denmark’s ‘garden island’, with gentle rolling fertile countryside. One of its top visitor highlights is the magnificently moated Egeskov Castle. It is surrounded by what is considered one of the best gardens in the world, has a classic car and bike museum, a forest adventure playground and a Segway driving course.
