Brno-Tu?any Airport, sometimes called Letiste Brno, stands four miles to the southeast of the city of Brno in the Czech Republic. The modern terminal and ample car parking help make it one of the country's busiest air gateways after Prague. If you hire at car at Brno Airport you'll find the complex stands on a flat patch of land amid gently rolling fields outside the city itself. Pretty leafy villages like Kobylnice and Ponetovice lie to the south. It's a one mile drive from the airport terminal to exit 201 of the D1 motorway, which leads east-to-west across the southern fringes of the city.
If you have a hire car at Brno's airport it's a short drive into the Czech Republic's second city and the capital of the district of Moravia. Brno's main attractions are found in the historic old city centre, where you can wander the Baroque and Renaissance buildings lining pedestrianised streets. It's a favourite spot for a Czech beer at a pavement café. The Špilberk Castle dominates the centre and now houses the city museum. Other highlights include seeing the mummified bodies in the crypt under a church near the ancient Cabbage Market or climbing to the top of the tower of the gothic cathedral.
